Unselfish love

What is important about today?  This is a day life will begin and for others will end.  The moment of new life what will the news announce?  Is it another terrorist attack, Government corruption, worldly plagues, or catastrophic storms?  At this point of life, there is no return to the security and comfort before birth.  You now begin the journey through the Alpha and Omega.  For others, their journey has ended.  Did they accomplish their purpose here on earth or did they roam about aimlessly?  Life has a purpose; it is in fulfilling those purposes that we find meaning and satisfaction in our lives.

Unselfish love is the key to fulfill life’s purpose. It is deliberate and purposeful rather than emotional, impulsive or self-serving love.

Daily Prompt Contrast: Love Hate

What would your life be like if you had no emotional contrast? A human life is filled with contrast.  I can’t imagine a static mind or body.

When I was young I had a mix of distinguishing characteristics. Now, what sets me apart from some people are my responses.

Which side does your emotional contrast lean to?

Positive                                                 Negative

Do you show:

Love                   when others are       Hateful

Joy                     when others are       Depressive

Peace                when others are       Stressed

Patience           when others are       Impatient

Kindness           when others are       Rude

Goodness          when others are       Insensitive

Faithfulness      when others are       Backstabbing

Gentleness       when others are       Rough

Self-control      when others are       Controlled by a passion

When I know I am focusing on the negative side, I refocus and set my mind on the positive side of life.  If we stay focused on the negative side, it is like a cancer it will eat at you until you can’t handle that pain. It is better to lean to the positive side.

Daily Prompt: Frivolous, A Person I Never Met

Am I being frivolous to think he gave his life for me? A person I never met.

I know he is alive within me. I speak to him frequently. When I talk with him, he gives me hope and stimulates me mentally to do or feel something, especially creative. When I am tired or weak, he is there to give me that boost of energy to keep me going. At times, I will disagree with him then I will take it upon myself. What a mistake, I will silently hear him say, “trust me I will never lead you astray”. I have learned that my friend is serious and has a great value in my life. For those of you, that read this and think I am being foolish or not serious.
I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t than live my life as there isn’t and die to find out there is. As said by T D Jakes

Thank you for reading this, your comments are welcomed even if they may be frivolous.

To Follow in His Footsteps

I know those footsteps by the impression it makes as you lead the way.   I feel and hear you breathe.  Your breath is like a feathery touch as it blows gently against my skin.  The slow back and forth sway of thin branches creak with each inhale and exhale of your breath.  A beam of white light spreads above the darkness on the horizon.  Patches of light fog filters the white glow.  As the sun rises and the fog lifts, a bright, clear, new day begins.  You are smiling and happy to see me.

I smell the sweetness of life flowing as you move about.  The potpourri of pines, persimmons and the musty scent of rich soil permeates the area.   The morning freshness is like a splash of water on my face.

The choir of birds sing their chorus of melodies of joy as their day begins.  It is like angels singing praise and worship as you watch over your children.  Thank you Lord for my life, it is a pleasure to serve you and follow your footsteps.

A Fish Hawk’s (osprey) Fleeting Moment

Fleeting

As with this photo of the osprey, it was a fleeting moment.  At a blink of an eye, I would have missed this photo shot.  In life, we do not know when that fleeting moment will come upon us.

Although we think we have time to prepare ourselves, do you know if your spirit will go into the heavenly bliss or into the fiery pit?   When will that fleeting time knock on your life?

Photographing Nature: Squirrels and Birds

The other morning I stood in the woods with my camera.  I heard various birds chirping and rustling through the leaves.  As I scaned the area for a bird at rest, I noticed something clinging to a rotted piece of a limb.  I wasn’t able to make it out with my naked eye.  So I looked through my camera lens to see this baby squirrel.  It looked frightened as it emerged from the hole in the trunk of the tree.  It nervously tested each piece of the tree bark before he planted its feet.  Here he is holding on for dear life.   Natural instinct may have coaxed it along to let him know its time to search for food or starve.

I did end up photographing this Tuffed Titmous and Blue Bird

The photos may not win a prize but I sure enjoy the time I spend with God’s creation and all His love.

Hope you all enjoy!!!

How my prayer was answered

My friend and I volunteer to paint murals on the walls through out the hallways of the Veterans Administration hospital. The hallways were painted an institutional drab tan. Now, with painted murals, it brings life, joy, and contentment for the patients, staff and visitors as they pass through the halls.

One particular morning, I asked God for His blessing on a mural my friend and I were to paint. I prayed for direction, help and assistance to paint this mural.

Unlike my friend who is a professional artist, I am a novice painter. As like most novices we don’t see our mistakes and faults as well as others see them. Throughout the painting, my friend Stan found fault. He’d say your lines are not smooth, you need more value, use more water, or you’re holding your brush wrong. This was one of those days, he was not himself. I was ready to give it up and hand the brush over to him telling him, “if you can do it better, then you do it.” But I didn’t.

I just stood aside and watched him paint. Inside me, I pouted and I started to put myself down. I was thinking I’ll never be a good artist.

When I got home, I realized that Satan was telling me all those negative things. But, God answered my prayer from this morning. I asked Him for direction, help and to assist me. He did it through my friend Stan who told me my problems and showed me how fix them.

It was then I realized God was there the whole time as I painted. I seemed to have given up not only in myself, but in my faith, trust and belief.

God was there the whole time. My lesson is to focus on God not on myself. I pray this story may help others.

Below are a few murals we painted at the Veterans Hospital
