Time in History

This photo was taken in late August 2015 inside the living quarters at the Great Hope Plantation located in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.  The period of time in history was around the late 1700’s.

I heard that Great Hope Plantation will no longer have interpreters but will be a self guided tour with signage only.

The Journeyman and the Blacksmith

In the early Colonial America, the early women colonists and settlers were expected to help the men in a variety of hard labor tasks in order to survive.  As shown in the blacksmith shop, this young lady is a journeyman working as a trades person.. This photo was taken in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

A Light in the Window

An early morning walk on Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, VA is a refreshing treat for both mind and body.  This particular morning was cool and chilly.  Smell of smoke from nearby chimneys permeated the air with the smell of the season.  This particular time of day a warm glow flowed from window of this home that gave me a cozy and comfortable feeling.

Horse Drawn-Carriage

Clop, clop, clop is the slow rhythmic sound of horses’ hooves heard on the street of Duke of Gloucester. Horse-drawn carriage rides are a way to enjoy the 18th century history here in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

Life’s little mystery

This fallen piece of tree trunk amazed me.  It made me wonder how time, weather, and nature can carve something to resemble an object.  Is it the forces of the elements or nature’s magic?  What ever it is I enjoy the beauty of what nature offers to show.

Ice Skating

With colder temperature and frost on the window, Colonial Williamsburg, VA has joined in the winter fest.  Cradled between merchant square and the historic Colonial section on Duke of Gloucester street is an outdoor skating rink.  A place for the young at heart.
